Product Launch Series: Solution Email

For Freelance Copywriters & Marketers

  • The Goal: To pivot from the problem to the solution. The aim is to build hope and establish authority by introducing a clear, proven path forward for the reader.
  • The Approach: To introduce a named framework (“The Niche Targeting Framework”) as the core solution. This strategy uses a mini-case study as social proof to build credibility and desire before the final product is revealed.

Subject: The simple shift that filled my client calendar

Over the last few days we’ve been talking a lot about freelance copywriting.

And for good reason.

Freelance copywriting is one of the most flexible, rewarding, and potentially lucrative careers you can build without needing special qualifications or massive startup costs.

But there’s a huge problem.

Most freelance copywriters struggle. They create beautiful portfolios, craft persuasive pitches, and offer valuable services… and then nothing. No one responds.

Sound familiar?

But the good news is there’s a reason for this failure. And it has nothing to do with your skills, your pitch, or your services.

It’s all about targeting. Getting your message in front of the right people who actually need what you’re offering.

Because targeting the wrong audience means zero clients.

And it’s all too easy to forget and focus on everything but the targeting.

You just need to make sure you avoid the three mistakes we talked about yesterday (here’s a quick recap):

  • Mistake #1: Spending all your time creating the “perfect” portfolio
  • Mistake #2: Spending all your time perfecting your pitch emails
  • Mistake #3: Spending all your time on your service offerings

Instead of making these three mistakes, spend your time on the one thing that really matters… your targeting!

Just last month I was working with a fellow copywriter who specialized in health and wellness.

She had excellent writing skills and a solid portfolio. But she was barely landing one small project every few months. And it wasn’t a problem with her writing or her pitch…

Instead, she was pitching to “anyone who needed copywriting” — which meant nobody was seeing themselves in her outreach.

So I helped her implement a targeted outreach campaign, focusing exclusively on health supplement companies with active email marketing…

And within three weeks, she’d booked more client work than she’d secured over the previous six months!

Check out her results:

[Note: For your portfolio, you can create a simple graphic of a calendar with several slots marked “Booked: Client Call” to visually represent this.]

Here’s how you get in front of the right people…

I call it “The Niche Targeting Framework.”

The first step is to identify exactly who your ideal clients are.

“Anyone who needs copywriting” is not a good answer. You want to be able to create a detailed profile of your ideal client. Bring them to life so you can speak directly to their specific challenges and goals.

Then discover where your ideal clients hang out online. That might be LinkedIn groups, industry forums, specialized directories, or specific events.

Now you know who your client is and where they are, you can position your services precisely for them.

Of course, there’s a lot more to it than that and there are still questions like:

  • How do I know which niche is right for me?
  • How specific should my targeting be?
  • What if my chosen niche is too competitive?

If you want answers to these questions and are ready to be taken by the hand and shown the exact process, I can help.

I’ve just put the finishing touches to a brand new course that will walk you through a proven system for implementing the Niche Targeting Framework for your copywriting business.

It’s called “Targeted Client Acquisition.”

It will be available to purchase tomorrow Wednesday, June 26th at 10am EST.

I’ll send you all the details in the morning.

Keep an eye out for that email…

See you tomorrow,

Donnie

P.S. A quick action step you can take: go through the Niche Targeting Framework and detail your ideal client and where they hang out online.
